How to use

Left click to place notes. Right click to erase, or switch to the Erase tool and click. To listen, you can either middle click anywhere, click on the Measure bar , press space, or click Play . Click again to stop. You can drag notes around after placing them, or drag the right end to change the length (for most instruments, this will not affect the sound when played on the website).

Switch to the Select tool in order to select multiple notes. You can copy , cut and paste using the buttons or the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X or Ctrl+V. If you make a mistake, type Ctrl+Z to undo and Ctrl+Y to redo.

Using the Grid menu at the bottom of the page, you can place 1/8 or 1/16 notes. Select a Key to highlight all of the notes that belong to that key. Change the BPM (beats per minute) to make the sequence play faster or slower.

You can scroll using the scroll bars or mouse wheel (shift + mouse wheel to scroll horizontally). Ctrl + mouse wheel lets you zoom in and out.

Save/Load

Click to save your work on the website. If you made an account you’ll be able to update it later using the link, otherwise saving again will make a copy. Click “Save local file” in the dropdown menu to save a file to your computer containing a text representation of the sequence, you can drag and drop the file onto the Online Sequencer page to open it again. Click “Export MIDI” to save a MIDI format file that can be played or edited using other music software.

Instruments

Use the instrument menu to select a different instrument, this will affect new notes you place as well as any notes that are selected when you change it. Click Highlight to select all notes played with the current instrument. Open the dropdown menu for more options.

In this menu, you can change the volume of each instrument or enable Delay (D) or Reverb (R). Click Lock to prevent notes on one instrument from being changed while you are working on another.

Under the Advanced tab, you are able to solo an instrument and reset its properties/volume. You may also adjust the instrument's pan and EQ through this menu.

Right click the measure bar to add "markers" which allow you to change instrument settings over time during the sequence.

Notes that sound longer or shorter are possible using Flute, Electric Guitar or any of the 8 bit instruments.
